The Liptember Foundation is one of Australia’s leading mental health charities specifically supporting women/womxn. 

The Liptember Foundation makes an informed impact by working alongside a community of experts, advocates and allies to ensure funding reaches those most in need through critical programs, initiatives, support services and research. 

Recent initiatives the Liptember Foundation has been able to support include:

  • The Pretty Unique Kinder Program teaches young girls about body diversity and celebrating their uniqueness through engaging activities and reading the Charlie’s Tales body confidence books. It has been rolled out to 36 kindergartens and has reached close to 1,500 young girls.

  • Funding Research: Professor Bronwyn Graham; a Clinical Psychologist and Researcher at the University of New South Wales, will be undertaking important research which aims to identify which hormonal contraceptives are compatible for use during exposure therapy when treating anxiety disorders in women.

  • Open Doors Youth Service will establish a peer lead support program specifically for young transgender women aged between 12 – 25 based in Queensland. The Wellbeing Pilot Program will provide 1:1 case management and counselling, psychosocial workshops as well as social support groups that will focus on connecting young transgender women and their families with their community.

  • Surf therapy for women: The 8-week clinical mental health surf therapy program uses a ‘green room therapy’ approach using surfing as a conduit to engage women in therapeutic mental health discussion, cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness practice. Placements will be funded in diverse communities in need across Australia including Sydney, Central Coast, Wollongong, Newcastle, Ballina, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Perth and Melbourne.
